[Handwritten right: Signature and Ru/5D0] Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr. C.S. Steadman. We regret that during the writer's absence from the Office there appears to have been some little confusion in regard to your special instructions covering one special Thermostat. It appears that there was some uncertainty as to whether you wanted 1.5/16" or 1 1/4" valve aperture, but the code you quoted X.30065/5 was correct, and therefore gave our Factory all the information they required, with the exception that you require 68-70°C. setting instead of 78-80°C. The cause of the confusion is giving your original order, that is the 78-80°C. setting which was given a production code - X.30065/5. This was a mistake on the part of our Drawing Office who were under the impression you had placed a contract. In the circumstances, we shall be glad if you will kindly cancel this code and if you wish to refer to this particular Thermostat use our code EX.X.10225. The new Thermostat you are requiring, that is, with 68-70°C. will be code EX.X.10373. Yours faithfully, For S. SMITH & SONS (MOTOR ACCESSORIES) LIMITED. [Signature] THERMOSTATIC CONTROL DEPARTMENT. To avoid delay all envelopes should be addressed to the firm. | ||
