X4079a To Ry. from EFC. " EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} " Mr. Brock. " Ds. EFC1/T13.10.22. X.4079. GOSHAWK IGNITION COIL. With reference to your Ry17/P5.10.22, two coils designated SG{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}1 and SG{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}2 have been made up by the Elec. Prod. Dept. in accordance with instructions contained therein and handed over to us to test. It will be remembered that these coils were made up with three layers of .00075" paper instead of two, and the whole coil impregnated with paraffin wax. Please find attached modified copy of my assistant's report on the performance of these coils on test, from which it will be seen that the whole position is satisfactory and that further coils made up in this manner should be proceeded with as required, and no further coils made up in the old way. In addition to the above, we have recently tested two coils Nos.16 and 18, which we received from the Test Dept. on 5.10.22 as being faulty. My assistant's report PB.59 in connection with these is also attached. The average production coil referred to therein of course refers not to the new production coil but those which have been previously passed out and upon which the new one is a decided improvement.
