X. 3031 - RE MAGNALIUM

In consequence of the high specific gravity, I would not take it without further proof that the magnalium you have got hold of is proper Magnalium, because I have a definite impression that genuine Magnalium is as light, or lighter than pure aluminium. It is an excellent machining alloy, but I have not seen or heard of any experience of it as a good casting alloy. Should it be an (1) extra light alloy, having (2) good casting properties and (3) standing a good Upton-Lewis test, we should continue to be interested in it. Otherwise, if it cails in any one of these three requirements, we should let the matter drop.
