The crankshaft damper becomes too heavily loaded causing timing gear rattles, and bad crank period. The condition of the dampers when dis-assembled are similar to those you have seen on Phantom III i.e. the pattern of the cotton duck on the steel surfaces. I understood when I enquired what was being done to the Phantom III cotton duck washers, that you had instructed an oil treatment before fitting. Would you please send Cricklewood or instruct a Depot Sheet for the same treatment to be used when they are changing the cotton duck washers on the 25/30 h.p.
