F.{Mr Friese} ENGINES - POWER CURVE WITH THROTTLE SET AT MAX:PERMISSIBLE BOOST AT 1850 R.P.M. Y2934 Y4657 Engine........................ F.XI.S.25. Fuel.......................... Shell 20/80 Benzol/Aviation. Sparking plugs.............. Lodge A.40. Engine fitted with 5.5/1 comp: ratio pistons. The attached curve shews the power available with the throttle in the gate position adjusted to 3.7" Hg. boost at 1850 r.p.m. 1850 r.p.m. has been chosen for this curve since it is a typical figure obtained with propellers fitted to our engines up to date when opened up to the gate position. The curve attached shews how power and boost vary with speed, with the throttle at the gate - this gives similar conditions to taking off and shews that no increase in boost occurs with the higher engine speeds obtained. On 6/1 comp. engines as at present in service, the corresponding figure for power developed at gate conditions is 445 HP. - at 1850 r.p.m. and +3.7" Hg. boost.
