To Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from EH. c, to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} EH2/LG.241018. X.3388 - RE COATING INTERIOR OF JACKETS AND PARTS OF CYLINDERS EXPOSED TO WATER TO PREVENT RUST. The cylinders which were received with the coat-ing have been on an engine. The engine has run for 7 or 8 hours but we have had water standing in the cylinder for 60 hours. We have cut a patch out and find that it is in excellent condition. There is no sign yet of the cylinder or the jacket being attacked. We have found on the standard hard cylinder that a new cylinder which has been run for 2 or 3 hours decided pit marks. We notice on some Mercedes cylinders when we cut a piece out of the jacket that the surface of their cylinder had similar marks to what we get. I reccomend that we have a dozen cylinders treated this way. There has only been two cylinders handed over to us so far. EH. R.R. 235A (500 T) (S.D. 408. 26-4-17.) Bm. 2/155/13. | ||
