Specifications and performance of a floating weight vibration damper and associated rollers.

Preliminary tests have shown that the damper is not behaving satisfactorily, and while measurement of the actual weights shows that the calculated roller diameter of .7563" should be correct for tuning the damper to the 6 order harmonic of the engine torque curve, it is possible that some secondary effects are interfering with the time of swing of the weights, and since these are beyond calculation it is desired to investigate the problem fully by means of a torsiograph. This series of rollers is, therefore, issued as agreed in a discussion with Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} varying the periodic time in steps up to 20% on either side of the calculated figure. The existing roller ends to RS.{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary}431 are suitable for the larger rollers RS.{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary}544, RS.{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary}545 and RS.{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary}532, but the smaller diameter rollers RS.{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary}533, RS.{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary}542 and RS.{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary}543 require the roller ends to RS.{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary}534.
