4 SPEED BOX.
We send herewith Leo. 1996., showing a plain bearing reverse shaft with integral pinions for the above box. No alteration has been made to the casing on this drawing except the addition of two drilled oil ducts. This has been done with a view to getting the experiment going as quickly as possible, and if it should be found experimentally that the bearings get insufficient lubrication with the scheme as shown it may be necessary to provide some simple form of sheet metal oil catcher attached to the inside of box to lead a larger supply of oil to the bearings.
Owing to the comparatively heavy loading of the bearings we have whitemetalled them, but consider that it might be worth while trying them in bronze, also if time permits.
