W/S. 47390 Hsl/LG24.1.29. Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} bxxg EXPERIMENTAL SALOON - 18-EX. 47830. We may have been very modest in our estimate of the cost we have put up to Barkers on this job. We have only put up to them the obvious error which they cannot dispute, that the position of the rear wings was not in accordance with the drawing they were supplied with. On the other cost, it is not simply a question of mounting the body, we were supplied with rough front wings which had to be altered, side pieces welded on to them, and fitted. The running boards which were supplied by Barkers were no use - new boards had to be supplied, tool boxes fitted. The body was not square and the scuttle had to be partly dismantled and a certain amount sawn off one side of the scuttle armature. The floorboards had to be fitted, and besides this, Holmes were only allowed to work on the chassis at times convenient to us - this chiefly consisted of nights. On the next car 23-EX, we will check the number of hours Holmes work on the job against their charges. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
