Dixon - Fuel Systems}1/JH.14.1.39. 30.G.VII Brakes. The following points have had to receive attention on the above chassis which is fitted with hydraulic brakes on the front. (1) There is no spring on the rod from the servo to the master cylinder shown on the design. We have had to fit one to ensure that the replenishing part is uncovered in the cylinder. (2) The Hydraulically operated wedges in the front brakes did not return. We have fitted additional pull off springs of about 20 - 25 lbs. across the shoes which appears to be just about sufficient. (3) The slotted link from the servo had been reamered at the end to give clearance on the pin but not the whole length of the slot. The spring plate on the servo must be sealed with Heldite or adhesive tape to exclude water, we suggest tape except for 15,000 miles cars. (5) The adjustable off stop for the foot brake should be made with a larger head to ensure the stop coming in contact with the jaws and not the lever. This applies to B.V. and B.50. Points 1, 2, and 5 require design attention. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems} | ||
