144-MS. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Sheldrake Esq.

At Rippons, Huddersfield on the 28th. inst.
I attended to complaints -

(1) Spitting in silencer.
The carburetter was dismantled. Slight improvement made to bedding of butterfly valve (noting .002" clearance at ends of valve bush). I strengthened the L.S. jet 1 notch, which helped at slow speeds, made slightly more free movement on accelerator pedal control.
On testing car again with chauffeur a big improvement was made, but not 100%, slight "sneezing" still taking place at times. The driver is going to use the car and see if this still holds good.

(2) Carburetter H.S. jet weakened two notches and the chauffeur is satisfied that he can get 111 M.P.G. (average running).

(3) Complaint that petrol is thrown out at tank filler when 20 galls is used. I strengthened up the spring plate (which by the way will not stay put if any weight is put on the cap, material could be improved) made good bedding of leather washer and now the above jobs are to be tried further.

(Sgd). J.R.Waldron.
