re. New PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I Car. 144-MS. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Sheldrake Esq.,

This owner, whose car was delivered to him at the end of February last complained of -

(1) Poor Petrol consumption.
(2) Spitting in Silencer.

We arranged with the Repair Dept. and through Messrs. Rippon Bros. Huddersfield, and with the customer's permission, for one of our testers to try this car when next at Huddersfield on a final car test.

This has now been done, and we are attaching hereto copy of our tester's report.

Whilst it may not be necessary to take any immediate action, we do not think that the customer will remain satisfied. He is a very particular owner and we feel fairly certain that he will complain of even occasional spitting in the silencer, and will require complete immunity from this. This we cannot guarantee without fitting the latest type carburetter which we do not recommend. It may be necessary in case of further complaint to send our representative along to further impress upon him the importance of driving to avoid this trouble. So far we have only been able to do this with the driver.

With regard to Petrol consumption - he may now be satisfied on this point.

Whilst our tester was dealing with this job, there was a further complaint of petrol being thrown out at the tank filler. We would call the attention of the Experimental and Design Departments to this, (see paragraph 3 of our tester's report).
