STANDARDISATION SHEETS.

The undermentioned standardisation sheets are returned herewith, together with Mr. Royce's remarks:-

EXIDE BATTERY TYPE 6XR5. x 4130
Agreed - but if P.& R.{Sir Henry Royce} battery has done so well, why use Exide, but be sure.

FIELD COIL WINDINGS OF STANDARD RR. 40/50 STARTER MOTOR. x4182
Agreed - it is understood that less watts are taken out of battery because engine starts more quickly at the slightly increased speed - this has been done for America for some time.

RR. STARTER MOTOR BUILT UP WITH SOLID POLES & NO INSULATION OTHER THAN OXIDE BETWEEN THE ARMATURE PLATES. x4399
Agreed - to omit insulation material between plates and trust to oxide or varnish. This is quite correct for punched plates, but if grooves are milled with cutter then mica is necessary. Go slowly with parallel connections.

With regard to the latter Standardisation sheet Mr. Royce does not understand why the cost of scrapped parts in this case should amount to £780. 0. 0. He thinks that this item is possibly a mistake. Would you please clear up this point. If the item is a correct one, an explanation should be given of the enormous amount of scrap.
