Gearbox test report for a B-4 car fitted with a Peregrine gearbox.

| COPY. X228 23.4.34. Gearbox Test on B-4 Car. Car fitted with Peregrine Gearbox. Test: To show how long 1st and 2nd would last, running F.T. at 2000 R.P.M. driving through Rear Axle onto the Works Dynamometer Drums. 1st GEAR. Actual R.P.M. 2000 to 2250. This gear ran for 34 minutes non stop and then packed up. Oil temp. in gear box at start 95°C. " " " " " " end of 34 min. run 118°C. Torque on brake 385 lbs. 2nd GEAR. This gear ran for 22 minutes non stop and then we had to shut down owing to high temp. in gear box - 124°C. After cooling box with water and cold air tests commenced again. This time we ran for 40 mins. non stop. Therefore total time running 2nd gear was 1 hr. 2 mins. With the last part of this test the oil temp. max. was 107°C. 2nd gear did not break down, but gear box set up rather an unusual whine.
