To Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} from EFC. X3498 EFC2/T17.8.27. FERRANTI AMMETERS CHASSIS TYPE. We attach correspondence received in this connection. It appears it may be to our advantage to allow Messrs. Ferranti to submit to us a sample instrument. The technical particulars which should be given them are that the scale reading should be 20 - 0 - 20 amperes, i.e. central zero, 20 amperes each way, and that the instrument should be capable of withstanding momentarily a current of 90 amperes without damage. We do not require a fuse in the instrument itself, as a 90 ampere fuse in series with the instrument is a necessary part of our chassis system. Perhaps you would give them particulars of the shape and size of the case, and the type of finish which would be required by us, though for the first sample instrument it would be understood that it would not be necessary to conform to these exactly.
