Dear Sirs, In continuation of my conversation with you, when in Helhi last month, regarding the unsatisfactory lighting of the headlights of your cars on the Hill roads, I hope that your Company may suggest a method whereby this can be remedied. The facts being as follows :- 1. The general gradients and curves do not allow the cars to travel on an average of more than 16 miles per hour on the top gear, and at this speed the lights are quite dull and practically at 1/2 power. 2. If gear is changed down to third, the lights are better, but equal to 3/4 power. 3. If gear is again lowered to second, the lights are then again at their best. The above applies generally when the batteries are fairly well charged and S.G. is standing at 1250, whilst if the S.G. is only 1230, the matters are worse and the result is the same as before, only read it in this case as running the car in one gear lower still. It is nearly the same case with all other makes of large cars, where the gear ratios are in the same region as your make. It requires either a larger or different type of | ||
