SPECIFICATIONS ENGINE (CONT'D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary}) LUBRICATION (CONT'D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary}) CRANKCASE VENTILATOR (CONT'D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary}) valve lifter compartment by the rotation of the crankshaft and forced out through an exhaust with a trailing edge extending below engine side pan on right front side. The air collects fumes and condensation as it circulates through the crankcase carrying it to the open air. ELECTRICAL UNITS - Delco Remy Separate Units. GENERATOR - Third brush regulator type. Belt driven from pulley on crankshaft, pivot mounted for belt adjustment. Ball bearing on drive end and Durex bushing on commutator end--lubricated through oil cups. CUT-OUT RELAY - Mounted on top of generator, electro-magnetically operated. DISTRIBUTOR - Jump spark type. Automatic advance with Vacuum and Centrifugal control. Octane Selector located at distributor. This feature allows the use of fuels of low octane rating, as well as those having a rating equal to Ethyl gas, without any change being made upon the engine. (Optional compression ratios not available). Single breaker points operated by an eight-lobed cam. Distributor mounted on right side of crankcase and gear driven from camshaft. Automatic advance 26° to 30°. COIL - High tension coil mounted on cylinder water jacket plate on right side of engine just back of distributor. IGNITION TIMING - With the Octane Selector fully advanced the timing should be set according to markings on the flywheel, or 2° before upper dead center. Breaker Point Gap .0125" to .0175" (.32 to .44 m/m.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore}) Spark Plug Gap .020" to .025" (.51 to .63 m/m.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore}) Firing Order 1 - 6 - 2 - 5 - 8 - 3 - 7 - 4. SPARK PLUGS - AC Type H-9--7/8" (22.23 m/m.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore}) Hex. with 18 m/m.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} thread. STARTING MOTOR - Flange mounted at front, right side of flywheel housing. Positive gear drive with over-running clutch. Gear engagement actuated by solenoid, with accelerator control. Vacuum switch with mechanical catch plus ground through special contact points in cut-out relay prevent engagement of starter gears while engine is running. Manual oil cup lubrication. BATTERY - Delco, 6-8 volt, wood separators and hard rubber case. Shipped uncharged and unfilled on box jobs and charged and filled on unboxed jobs.
