W.C.2 LONDON DIRECTOR: J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} O'HEA, F.C.I.S. TELEPHONE AND TELEGRAMS TEMPLE BAR 5112 November 7th, 1931. JOH/KH/K Messrs Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. Dear Sirs, COLT "K.K" VENTILATORS. We have to acknowledge receipt, with many thanks, of your letter of the 4th inst. We note with pleasure that you feel disposed, as a first step, to try out the effect of applying the type of ventilator, illustrated in our Drawing No. 27, to the engine bonnet. The only pattern we have available is of the size shown in the blue print, intended primarily for the ventilation of the scuttle of the average car. We desire to provide for the test a ventilator developed specially for your engine bonnet. After studying the matter carefully, we have modified the design outlined in Drawing No. 27, and propose to make the ventilator 18" in length, with a maximum external projection of about ½", when fully opened. We can assure you that these dimensions will prove adequate to extract a sufficient volume of air from the space under the bonnet under working conditions. The ventilator will be arranged to function as an air extractor only, with a wide range of adjustment. When fitted at the rear end of the bonnet, it will be trim and compact in appearance and no more conspicuous than a narrow beading at the junction of the bonnet and the scuttle. A rough sketch indicating the location of the ventilator is enclosed. If you will be good enough to let us know in what metal you wish the ventilator to be made up we shall be glad to put a pair in hand for you. | ||
