ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR RUNNING THE X2531
LONG DURATION TEST ON F.11-27.

We have decided to run the full throttle stage
on pure Benzol in place of the 50/50 mixture previously instructed
Approx. 35 galls. will be consumed during the hour run at
full throttle.

For all the other stages a mixture of 50/50 -
Swan/20/80 fuel will be employed as previously specified.

We desire to call particular attention to the
necessity of accurate measurement of the fuel used throughout
the test. A careful record must be kept of both the weight and
volume of the fuel consumed and the consumption over each
stage of the running recorded. For this purpose special sheets
are provided, one for weight measurements and the other for
volume measurement.

Weight measurements will be made by weighing each
barrel before and after the fuel is pumped into the tank and the
volume measurements will have to be made by a calibrated dip stick
The volume of fuel in the tank should be recorded immediately at
the end of each stage of running and the consumption over these
periods entered on the sheets supplied.

As one of the principal objects of the test is to
determine the least amount of fuel necessary for a duration of
72 hrs. it is imperative that every care should be exercised to
