x819 S/W (Mr. Hives) 4th October 1923 Copy to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} " " E.P. HO. 7/EBN4.10.23 HEAT TO FRONT FOOT BOARDS x819 With reference to memo. from B.J. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}(Ref:BJ18/H3.10.23) I am desired by Lord Herbert Scott to inform you that the address of the firm who supply the cork material for fitting to 14-LK{L. King} (Lord Herbert Scott's car) is Ribas Bosch Cork Sundries Ld., 64, Commercial St.{Capt. P. R. Strong}, E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} 1. The material can be obtained in various thicknesses, and I believe in different degrees of compression. The Suppliers of this material are of the opinion that it is necessary to protect the edges of the material in some way by binding with leather, or insertion in a frame. It is also recommended the cork matting is put over the usual floorboards (not under), and not attached in any way to the wood floorboards - and it is desirable to cover the usual flooring over as large an area as possible, having separate pieces of cork matting where necessary - but all closely fitted. The use of this cork matting is believed to lessen heat being felt by the driver and passengers, and to tend to decrease noise - also it is comfortable for treading upon. H.O. HO. | ||
