Wraith II Side Steering Tube.

We have already sent you on N.Sch.4791 a scheme for the Wraith II side steering tube, in which the forward joint is a scaled down copy of the Phantom III.

We now send N.Sch.4837 showing an alternative type of joint in which the frictional characteristics are constant in both directions by preventing the top half of the ball pad from revolving.

The internal diameter of the housing is broached for splines, and the upper and lower pads have splines on them. The lower pad will need to be a good fit around its splines to make the joint oil-tight, whilst the upper pad will need to have splines having a running fit.

We have deepened the flange of the screwed cap and have modified the plate locking washer of the same, and these modifications should be made applicable to the Phantom III type joint shown on N.Sch.4791.
