B.J. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}3/BM/21.4.23. Re: Speedometer Drive for 40/50 HP. The attached standardisation sheet does not appear to make the matter very clear. I have understood all along (as per ROY{Sir Henry Royce}3/MG. 22.12.22). that what the Works were really doing in regard to the "A.T" speedometer drive for the 40/50 HP. was to supply and fit a reduction gear in conjunction with the new form of drive and I take it this is what this standardisation sheet refers to, as we were previously told that the cost of this reduction gear would be £3-3-0. When these become standard, we shall buy "A.T" speedometers from the Makers, less their standard drive and shall obtain the speedometers about £2-4-0. each cheaper than at present, with the result that the extra cost of the speedometer, is only about £1-1-0. which will be passed on to the Customer by slightly increasing the charge for the speedometer. I hope this makes the matter clear. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} A.F.P. PRSm. [Handwritten Annotations:] [Top left, circled in pencil:] C.J.
