To H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} c. to WOF. c. to HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} c. to MZ. V1033 Es/CR.{Mr Cra???ster / Mr Chichester}S/JR.{Mr James Royce} 26.6.36. 33-EX Stromberg carburettor. Tests were carried out to cure 'luffing' trouble. The same procedure was adopted as on the 25/30 HP. with identical results. (1) The alteration of the discharge tubes to have a single base hole of 58 Morse instead of the existing 4 holes. (2) The petrol level was also lowered in the float chamber to 3/8" and found to be satisfactory. (3) The bypass jet was reduced from .061" to .055" and requires testing again to be certain that maximum speed is not affected. It was found impossible to carry out this test on the road with this car, owing to the rear damping being too light. This prevented good braking at top speeds. (4) The accelerator pump is delayed in action by the new gland fittings. The gland spring requires reducing at least 30% in load to cure this trouble. The consumption was checked over the Glossop route of 107 miles; 39 M.P.H. average speed; 11.8 M.P.G. These tests and alterations were carried out with the attention of Mr. Fisher, Stromberg representative. Es/C. Ratcliffe. | ||
