ROY{Sir Henry Royce} from EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}
c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}         Re LUBRICANTS FOR ROLLS-ROYCE CARS

With reference to your ROY{Sir Henry Royce}8/AG10.3.22, I would refer you to my memo EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/Thn7/H10.2.22, which deals with your memo except in regard to the question of lubricant for the Goshawk.

Even as regards this car we do not know any more suitable lubricant for the engine and gears than we are now using for the 40/50.

At the same time we do not wish to tie ourselves down to this type of oil indefinitely, as we certainly hope to encourage some healthy competition in this respect, but it will certainly take us considerably over twelve months to establish the fact that we have got something better, consideration being given in this respect to the consistent quality of supplies which have been given to us by Prices.

EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}

I agree with above.
