The Protecting Cover that portion which rests upon the top of the spring, so forming a reservoir. Oil in this reservoir can only escape by saturating the felt through which it finds its way to the sides of the spring, where it seeps between the leaves. Oil is easily fed to the reservoir through a metal cap fitted on the top of the gaiter. This cap is designed with a rotating cover, which cannot be The Lock Lacing guide clips. Leather caps cover the ends of the guide, so that no water or dirt can enter.
