being granted to the Coachbuilders and not to Rolls-Royce.

Another scheme which has been suggested is that Mr. Hiddington - who at one time was with Barkers - should be appointed as licensee and that he should make and supply the necessary fittings to the Coach-builders. This scheme is looked on with favour by Mr. Constantine and he is considering it and putting the matter up to his principals.

6. Item 6 on Agenda. Small Gear Box to get weight and cost down. Min18, Page 4. HY{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer}1/1H.8.6.33.

It was agreed that Experimental Dept. should proceed to try out the Peregrine gear box on a Bentley car.

7. Item 7 on Agenda. Crankshaft period. HES/W.31.8.33.

Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said that with a view to raising the speed of the period connecting rods of aluminium alloy are being tried and these are at the present time actually under test.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} said that lighter pistons were also being tried for the same reason.

8. Item 8 on Agenda. Future Policy. J.III A Revised Bentley Engine. RL/RP.26.8.33.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} said that if the six-cylinder engine be continued and a 4-bearing crankshaft used in order to raise the critical speed we must be prepared to accept some roughness in running from the engine and efforts will have to be made to reduce the effect of this roughness by improving flexibility of the engine mounting.

9. Item 9 on Agenda. Criticisms. Quoted at Show and in Showrooms - CE/C15.11.33. Earl Howe.

The criticisms of the various Expert Drivers who have tried the Bentley car were discussed.

Earl Howe's criticisms and suggestions have already been replied to by E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} and most of the points raised are receiving attention.
