COPY. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} No.2/JL.15.8.40. ROLLS-ROYCE 1/2" GUN. Attached is a tracing showing four of the R.R. 1/2" guns with 250 rounds of ammunition per gun in a Spitfire wing, i.e. 8 rounds in all. It is of course problematical whether the machine will be able to carry the weight of eight guns and ammunition. This drawing merely illustrates that the low carrying capacity of the machine will be the limitation and not the size of the gun or the bulk of the ammunition.
