For the attention of Mr. West.

Dear Sirs,

We are in receipt of your letter of the 16th inst., and have also received the six model X434/1 plugs which we sent you for testing on your Bentley car. We regret to hear that these plugs misfire on your engine.

We have tested the plugs and find that they are all perfectly sound from the manufacturing point of view, but when tested on the full voltage insulation test the spark is liable to jump along the wrapping underneath the mica washers at the sparking end of the plug. This is the only cause of misfiring that we can suggest.

We can easily increase the surface insulation a sufficient amount to stop the spark occurring inside, but before making this alteration we want to consider the design of plug to see if there is any other alteration which might be an improvement. We hope to let you know what we propose to do in the course of a few days.

Yours faithfully,

LODGE PLUGS LIMITED.
