[Handwritten at top:] X3322 [Crossed out text:] Mr. Matthews. c. Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. Mr. Dy {F R Danby} [illegible] [Handwritten:] EP {G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} 3/H3.10.24. re. 40/50 HP. Reverse Pinion Seizing. [Handwritten underneath:] X3322 We have during the last two days returned to the Works two gear boxes, 25-AU and 61-AU, the reverse pinions of which have seized up on test. We shall be glad to have your report as to the cause of this trouble and whether such is likely to occur on other cars, and what is being done to prevent this in future. This is rather an important matter as it is a feature with which we have experienced trouble in the past, and I understand from Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} that some alteration has been made to this scheme which has overcome this trouble.
