Report on Avon Tyres.

We have previously reported on the wear & the effect of the left & right hand pattern. The fronts are wearing more on the inside, but this is experienced on all makes of tyres when the car has covered such a big milage.

We had a long run of just over 500 miles with good surface tar macadam roads, with an exceptional amount of corners, which were taken at their best speed, thus subjecting the tyres to violent scrubbing & rolling. The remaining milage was covered on varying smooth & gritty straight roads.

Our opinion is that the general performance of these tyres is good. Wet or dry smooth straight roads, cornering under all conditions, the tyres showed up very well there being no tendency to suddenly give way or slide, whilst there was still some tread. We were inclined to think they were rather more noisy on corners or braking than India's but were quiet on cobbles, or straight roads at all speeds.

These tyres are very flexible & when run at 25 lbs front & 28 lbs rear cold the fronts rub the steering arms even on light cornering. The flexing of the tyre caused
