+n29 To Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/KW.14.7.34. Re Cadillac. We note from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}4/E.13.7.34 that the Cadillac will be coming in on a permanent importation scheme and that we shall be paying duty on it. One point arises in view of the altered procedure of bringing the car into the country. Messrs. Lendrum & Hartman are the Cadillac Agents over here and we have always been on the best of terms with them. They have been exceedingly good in letting us have spare parts and supplying us with information from time to time about General Motors' products. We should not like to lose their goodwill. While we were bringing the car in on a triptyque of course the question of importation did not arise. Now, however, the situation has changed, and we think that this should at least be mentioned to Mr. Hartman. We are not sure whether the Cadillac Co. of America would not wish to communicate with him if they realised the car was not coming in on a triptyque. However, we think that the question can be settled quite amicably by someone from Conduit Street talking the matter over with him.
