As a result of trouble experienced in service with water leaks from the elbow joints, water pump to cylinder, Klingerite jointing was tried on a number of chassis passing through routine test.

In Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}12/T21.9.36 we reported that these joints had proved unsatisfactory on test, and in the case of the Bentley chassis, everyone gave trouble with water leaks.

As this was contrary to the subsequent experience of the Experimental Dept. we agreed to repeat the test.

Klingerite washers recently fitted on six Bentley chassis have satisfactorily passed through all routine tests without any signs of leaking.
