+4038 Expl: Dept: HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn{Mr Robinson}2/LG. 20th. Nov.1928. Messrs.H.M.Hobson, 47-55 Acton Vale, London W.3. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Major Searight. We thank you for your letter of the 16th.inst. We have received the petrol tank and note that Barkers have the dashboard unit. We are indebted to you for the rapidity with which you have carried through the job. We note that the gauge will only read 20 galls. We would like the other gauges with the 2¼" dash unit to read the full 21 galls. We note your remarks re. pumping tests and will act accordingly. We shall be glad to receive copies of your K-S.175 and K-S.180 at your convenience. We will let you have a drawing of the 20 HP. tank to N.Sch.2578 as soon as it is available. We have received the 20 HP. gauge to F.55744 for which we thank you. We have sent you per passenger train one 40/50 HP. tank to F.79192 (K-S.162). On this tank we have been carrying out over-night loss tests with Swan spirit and so far have found no disadvantage in its functioning with the volatile fuel. Our troubles with this tank are :- (1) Quantity of petrol which must be used with a full tank before pumping begins. (2) Gauge reads 1¼ galls. short. contd :- | ||
