Regret that duplicate of this was sent to you in error 19th Brunswick Street, Liverpool. Mr. Wormald, Messrs The Rolls-Royce Ltd., Camaston Road, Derby. Dear Sir, I herewith enclose a demonstration Model of a patent non-leakable Tap for Motor Cars etc. and also a short treatise on Taps with drawings illustrating both my patent tap and the ordinary type. Many parts of a Car have been improved upon and perfected and it is really surprising that no attention has been given to the taps used on them, for though only a small part, it is nevertheless a very vital one. A leaking Petrol Tap is irritating, wasteful & highly dangerous, and though a leak be so small as to pass compartively un-noticed, much wastage will be caused by it and many cases of excessive petrol consumption could be traced to a leaky tap: One drop of Petrol per minute (almost an imperceptible amount ) will total in a year to seven gallons and thus twenty gallons (three drops a minute) may easily be lost this way in a year. Similarly a defective compression Tap will cause a loss of power and therefore a loss of economy. This Tap has been designed so as to totally eliminate all the defects of the ordinary type which are bound to cause leakages sooner or later and I feel sure that the obvious superiority of my Tap will appeal to you as Motor Engineers, and knowing that you aim at producing a Car perfect to the smallest detail, I believe that the enclosed matter will be of interest to you. This Model is merely a roughly finished one, and it is intended only to demonstrate the various points I claim for my invention, (see Patent 16229. 1. | ||
