AND QUOTE REFERENCE CMC/MEN IN YOUR REPLY 14th June, 1938. Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd., Experimental Department, Derby. Gentlemen, For the attention of Mr. R.M. Child - Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs}15/JH. In reply to your letter of June 11th, we are pleased to tell you that we have now prepared some FLB.50x plugs which are similar in external dimensions to the FLB.30x, but with considerably higher heat resistance. We are sending two dozen of these to you to-day under separate cover and we shall be most interested to hear the results of your test. We would emphasise, however, that these plugs are only intended for unusually severe driving and that we would hesitate to consider using them generally in the place of the FLB.30x. Although there have been one or two cases of excessive point erosion with the FLB.30x we are of opinion that these have only occurred where the cars have been used under exceptionally hard conditions and that the FLB.30x is very well suited to the car as generally used. We shall be very pleased indeed to see Mr. Child at these Works and to do everything we can to help him in the matter of plug testing. The Writer would like to deal with this matter personally so perhaps Mr. Child would be so good as to write suggesting an appointment. Yours faithfully, p.p. K.L.G. SPARKING PLUGS LIMITED.
