We would be more enthusiastic about the wedge scheme if RHC. {R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} had not told us he thought it was an extravagant way of doing the job. We are in entire agreement with you that the felt is undesirable, and we hope that we shall be able to get rid of it when we throw away the silent tappets, which we hope to do as a result of the 15,000 mile test on which 35-EX is just starting. In the meantime we are going ahead to try out some wedges, but from what London are saying we shall have to move with the felt scheme, or we shall be getting an epidemic.
