G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} Hack, Esq.,
Messrs. Rudge Whitworth Ltd.,
Coventry.

Dear Mr. Hack,

We are trying out some solid pistons on the same lines as the one fitted to the Rudge which we are testing.

We have measured up this piston, but we are not quite clear what the working clearances are meant to be. We should be very much obliged for any information you can give us on this subject.

Have you done any tests to determine what is the minimum clearance with which you can run without loss of power?

Yours sincerely,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
