X.2805 Re R.R.C.H. Induction Pipe Jacket Water Connections.

With reference to the above, would you please note that Mr. Hives should settle the length of jacket required on these R.R.C.H. pipes.

I have actually shown the elbow with a straight piece added on. It would be an advantage if we could do without this straight piece, and Mr. Hives will be able to tell us this. Further, Mr. Royce thinks that if we had to use the straight piece, the amount of water it would retain at 20° inclination would not matter.

As we have already indicated to some extent on previous drawings how the water connections should be tackled, we should be glad if you would get out a scheme for these as quickly as you can, and send us a blueprint. The drawing on which we have shown such connections is LeC.645, size 5, for B.Z.S., which was never used. We should be glad if you would send a print of this drawing to St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} Margaret's, as we have no copy at present.

Further, the engines to the contract specification will be required to drain 20° fore and aft. They will therefore require taps fitting as indicated in a recent LeC. drawing of ours, showing illustrations for the Instruction Book.

I am dealing with the question of the electrical connections, which is so far as I know, the only remaining outstanding detail, and will let you know about these.

E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer}
