To EH. from R.{Sir Henry Royce} C to J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} [crossed out] C to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} ORIGINAL X.2958. X.2975 Re Rocker Arm Cover. X.2553 With reference to the covers over the cams being drilled for oil ways, I think the Rotherham lubricators are too heavy, and much prefer the small spring. The holes through which the oil passes should be made suitable for the syringe, and should have a little boss on the inside, so as to be certain the oil will fall off and not run along the inside (underside) of the cover. The little flat steel spring covering the oil hole should either be dished at one end only, or have a shallower dish made with the smaller part of the circumference of a larger sphere. It will then open more easily. At present it is unnecessarily tight. I think the little bosses could be cast on the inside quite easily, and would save fitting little pieces of tube. I should like to know whether the felt is really a definite benefit. The whole thing should be tested. [Signature] R.{Sir Henry Royce} R.R. 232 V (200 H) (2'C' 512' 31-1-16) C' 1719 | ||
