As it is not a simple matter to convert the sub-frame prepared for 25-EX to the drop centre type, we quite agree to the suggestion you make to prepare an entirely new sub-frame for this chassis and to use up the original one, after conversion to right hand drive, on another chassis. As we have already pointed out to you, the sub-frame supplied for 24-EX is already actually built into the chassis body and cannot, therefore, be returned to you at the moment but later on we expect to ask the Experimental Dept. to collect the body from Barkers and the alteration to the sub-frame can be made then. We understand from DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} that there will be no difficulty in altering the frame in position in the body. The left hand drive sub-frame for 26-EX has already been returned to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Hoopers. Please obtain it from him. As we have already indicated, the bodies put in hand for these three sub-frames will now be used by ourselves for Trials purposes, and we have allocated them as follows:- (a) Body laid down for 24-EX to trials car chassis 1-WJ (b) Body laid down for 25-EX to trials car chassis 3-WJ (c) Body laid down for 26-EX to trials car chassis 2-WJ. When the new sub-frame for 25-EX (3-WJ) is available, it should be sent to Barkers labelled "For 3-WJ". When the alterations are completed to the sub-frame of 26-EX (2-WJ) it should be sent back to Hoopers Chelsea, labelled For 2-WJ. Hn{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} | ||
