Technical instructions for modifying distance pieces by introducing a counter bore.

-2- It will be noticed that where distance pieces can be turned round to hand them the flange on the distance piece is against the outside of the frame. The introduction of these counter bores will therefore not hand these pieces. In other cases where the distance piece is moved across the introduction of a counter bore will hand the piece. We understand that this will not call for separate dies as the core for the counter bore can be changed over in the die box. The diameter of the counter bore for any bolt should be the diameter of the bolt plus 3/8", this to be measured at the base of the counter bore. The diameter at the face of the distance piece will be greater than this due to the taper of the draw.
