| Valves and Valve Springs. Contd. (9) The Committee were also advised that Mr Swetnam would submit figures concerning experimental valve springs at the next meeting. 105th Meeting 28th Dec.11. Mr Swetnam submitted figures concerning our standard spring, the experimental spring recently designed and those springs made to this drawing. It appeared that the experimental springs delivered were made from wire .002" thicker, and with a minimum load of 2 lbs greater than specified. The stress in the spring, however, was substantially as recommended by the Committee. After some discussion, the Committee agreed that we should grind a suitable amount off the end of these springs, in order to bring the load with the valve closed, down to our standard. Mr Platford promised to do this and report later. 107th Meeting Jan.3rd.11. Mr Platford informed the Committee that the new experimental valve springs which had been ground down to Committee's instructions, had been started running in the test rig on the evening of Jan 2nd. The equivalent distance run per day was about 1200 miles at a speed of about 60 miles per hour. R.R. 235A (100) X (H 001) 206. 8.1.12. G 2259 | ||
