HILLMAN MINX 10 HP - 1942 MODEL.

We have the following comments to make on the above car :-

ENGINE.
The engine is fairly smooth up to 40 M.P.H. but is "fussy" and thumps at higher speeds.
Performance fair for 10 HP.
Carburation is poor below 20 M.P.H. Engine clocks out below 10 M.P.H. full throttle (Solex carburetter fitted).

CLUTCH.
Smooth and progressive in operation.

GEARBOX.
Noisy side shaft and first gear, other gears passable.
Synchro Mesh good on 3rd and top, occasionally fails on 2nd gear.

REAR AXLE.
Uneven growl up to 40 M.P.H. forward and overrun.
This axle is poor compared with previous models.

BRAKES.
Quite good for Bendix.

STEERING.
Inclined to wander at top speeds, otherwise good - light steady and no joggles. Steering Column together with front end of the car generally, is very steady.
