X.3468 RE GROOVING OF UNDERSHIELDS. With reference to the above, you suggested some time ago that we might to advantage reduce this by fixing more stiffening ribs in the undershield. We certainly have been able to effect an improvement by fixing a further rib in the back panel, the rib to be in line with the exisiting rib which is in the middle panel. I should be glad to demonstrate this to you if necessary, as I am anxious that we should take advantage of this improvement as quickly as possible. Could you please arrange to instruct this to be done at once on all undershields which are now being produced here/at Sub-contractors, in fact I should be glad if would instruct the works to fix this rib in undershields which we may return from the Test Dept. owing to the groove being unsatisfactory.
