X 3468 EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} from BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c. Bn.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} c. Rs.{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary} c. Ck.{Mr Clark} c. Dr. c. Mr Shelton, X 3468 ENGINE UNDERSHIELD - CHASSIS 65-CW. RE UNLOUVERED SIDE ENGINE GUARDS. ----------------- Referring to your memo EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}22/P15.3.20. our instructions were, that two complete engine guards are required for the above chassis, as follows:- (1) Our standard louvered engine guard, which should be fitted to the car when it is delivered. (2) An unlouvered guard for use in winter weather to prevent the engine from becoming choked up with mud. The whole position has been fully discussed and has been agreed, that in view of the conditions in Spain during winter driving on the bad spanish roads, by which the spaces round the engine and gearbox become absolutely choked up with mud, it would be advantageous to supply the spare guards without louveres, as requested. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} P.S. The Works should send the car on test with a plain undershield fitted, but the Test Dept, should run the chassis and deliver same with the louvered undershield. | ||
