Chassis 9 G.III.

Re your comments of report GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}2/Crn.14.8.25.

Dynamo.
Re cover for dynamo. We thank you for the information that the hole should be at the bottom of this cover. When the car was taken over this hole was on the top. We were aware that the cover could be turned round, but were uncertain of the position because the cover is lettered on both sides for the wiring. This is very misleading, and we should recommend that the markings be only on the corresponding side of the cover when the hole is at the bottom.

Engine guards.
Re engine guards, the mud is coming between the engine case and edge of engine guard. In my report I said 3/16". This was the minimum. To be exact, there is more like 5/16". If, as you say, it is impracticable to fit engine guards closer than this, I would certainly suggest that a piece of felt be rivetted onto side engine guards, to overlap at least one inch. I have looked into the matter, but cannot, at the moment, suggest anything further.

Front Axle.
Cross steering tube fouling front engine guard. A new design of guard is required. I am sending you a sketch showing an end view of clearances required. I will, if you wish, get ours altered to these dimensions.

Propellor shaft. - Fouling rear foot brake equalizing shaft G.52213.
If the shaft is lifted up .185" it will have ample clearance.

Accumulator suspension.
I reported temporary battery box support fitted for the reason that the papers you gave to me, i.e To "Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}" from RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}IO/EE.23.7.25. On this sheet it says "I.5535 battery & fittings. Temporary battery box & support to Drwg. F.53198". Naturally, I took this to be as it says, and I do not understand it any more than you do. My opinion was that after the failure of the previous support, another design of support was coming through, & this had been fitted
