When you sent Mr. Leslie out to Paris to go into the question of 61-JS{Mr Johnson's Secretary} and the bad "jellying" in the front, he also dealt with a new car, No. 16-MS, belonging to Mr. Fairhurst. I understand that both cars suffered from the same thing, namely the radiator itself wobbling a good deal.

I do not know just what was done to Mr. Fairhurst's car, but I understand Mr. Leslie was able to improve the trials car considerably - so much so, in fact, that Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} was quite content to keep it in Paris as a demonstrator.

As regards Fairhurst, however, we have a letter in from him this morning saying :-

"There is a serious fault in the floating radiator, as on a rough road the fan knocks on the bonnet top, causing very loud noises, and it is getting worse. What do you propose for this? The blades are already damaged. The dash also makes a considerable noise some of which is due to top holes in steel rod supporting brackets for windscreen being too large for the pins!"

Unfortunately Mr. Fairhurst is now on his way to Baden Baden, so that we shall not be able to get anything done by Paris.

I think perhaps the best thing would be to send Mr. Robinson from Berlin, if you can send him particulars of what should be done - presumably on similar lines to what Mr. Leslie did on 61-JS.{Mr Johnson's Secretary}
