Re: VIBRATOR CONTROL ON 58-GN. We tried this car yesterday at Lillie Hall and found out that the trouble complained of i.e. insufficient charge, was due to the operation of the regulator. Apparently the C.A.V. regulator is operating too early at too low a voltage, thus limiting the charge the battery should legitimately be getting. We found on short circuiting the regulator that the dynamo would give 19 to 20 amperes at quite moderate speeds. If Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} intends to keep this car for any further length of time, we suggest that the car be brought up to Derby at some convenient time, when we will arrange to change over the regulator unit and possibly fit a new improved dynamo which we have since developed.
