( 6 ) 12) Fitting of extra plate on buffers stop has prevented lever fouling. 13) Larger diameter stop plate has prevented cutting of buffers. FRONT SUSPENSION. 17) Cured by extra asbestos packing, should be cured by correct perfect seal packings. 18) A bijur giving six times the amount of a No 3 bijur has given sufficient lubrication. 19) Cured by attention to No 17. GEAR BOX. 22) Cause of loss of excess oil was due to a pressing inadvertently being left out of swinging arm bracket. Improved drain schemes from bearings of Servo drive shaft cured other leaks. 23) An improvement in the oiling of the 1st to 3rd motion shaft has been made, but was not good enough. A further modification was made, results at present unknown. 24) The two second motion shaft bushes were well oiled with the modifications made. CLUTCH. 25) Slipping of Clutch through oil getting on to fabrics 100% cured by scheme to rear engine bearing. The Clutch has been examined and not a drop of oil was found inside the Clutch. A hand oiling scheme has been fitted to lubricate the Clutch spiggot. A No 1 bijur was fitted to the Trunion ball race deleting a No 0 bijur. REAR ROAD SPRINGS. 29) Lubrication increased by fitting unrestricted bijurs, test not completed to give results. ENGINE MOUNTING. The rubber mounting at this mileage does not show any defects. With the lining up of the Engine to the coupling of the Gear Box, the transmission period was cured. QUIET TAPPETS. The Tappets have not remained quiet. No particular one has given trouble. They have been inconsistent. The trouble has been through two causes - Oil supply ceasing past restricted jet, and poppet valves in plungers leaking. At times a tappet has remained noisy throughout the run, at other times it has become quiet after a short run. | ||
