re. 20-HP Faulty Wiring and Earthing of Head Lamps.

We have experienced trouble with unsatisfactory lighting of the side lamps on a customer's car which we found was due to the faulty earth connection. The lamp is mounted on to the wing, but all the contacts, including the bolts, are made through paint. The same condition seems to prevail in the fixing of the wing irons etc. to the frame.

I suggest that some clear instructions should be issued to the coachbuilders and also if possible be embodied in the Instruction Book, pointing out that in fixing the lamps and wings etc. the paint should be removed so as to make sure that a definite earth connection is obtained.

We have also had trouble with the wiring of these lamps in one or two cases. The wire leading from the frame to the wiring brackets has come in contact with the shock absorber, and the wire has suffered in consequence. The socket for this wire on the frame is very close to the shock absorber, and we suggest that the position of this socket is altered, or the plug which fits into this socket should be made so that when once fixed in it cannot turn.
